Changing the Narrative for Development on the Southside

29 November 2021

The City of College Park is moving forward with the 320-acre Six West development, a major mixed-use project west of downtown. Spearheaded by Economic Development Director Artie Jones III, the public-private partnership will bring 2.3 million square feet of Class A office space, 1,700 hotel rooms, 700,000 square feet of retail, golf-centric entertainment, and 1,300 new residential units.

Originally delayed by the pandemic, infrastructure work is now resuming, with real estate deals progressing. Six West aims to address retail and grocery shortages on Atlanta’s southside, where College Park is considered a food desert. Despite a sharp pandemic-related drop in hotel occupancy, rates are slowly rebounding.

College Park is also home to key employers like Sysco Foods and the FAA, professional sports teams, and notable entertainers, reinforcing its status as a diverse and vibrant community.
